Memorie finlandesi

Finnish memories

Korakrit Arunandonchai and Kiasma are one of the most intensive experience I’ve ever had in a museum .

I had heard about the artist before but I had never experienced his work. I will never forget it.

The top floor of Kiasma was devoted to his solo show, a unique big project titled With history in a room filled with people with funny names that included an immersive installation and a video.

Many emotions and meanings can come out looking at his work, many contrasting adjectives can be blamed but not “funny” at all, as stated in the title.

Getting inside the exhibition room was like jumping in the inner world, brain, nightmares and visions of the artist.

Big cyborg monsters and science fiction aliens were the protagonists of the main installation. Breathing creatures that released magical liquids from their mechanisms. Technology, natural materials, glass, mechanical system and animal parts coexisted as a character of the Blade Runners movie.

At the first sight it seemed better to run away from all those terrible visions but the poetry that Korakrit instilled was overwhelming.

It’s not a matter of aesthetics but it’s all bout the truth, the maturity and authenticity that belongs to great artist that here I’ve found in a young boy born in Bangkok on 1986.
